Wrap your gifts without pissing off your mother (earth)

Wrap your gifts without pissing off your mother (earth)

Isn't finding the perfect gift for someone you love seriously the best feeling? For me, the next best feeling is seeing it all perfectly wrapped and under the tree, waiting to be opened, loved and enjoyed.

As I've been making huge efforts to create less waste at home and with Standard Wax, I've been struggling with wrapping gifts this year. Wrapping paper typically isn't recyclable - so how do you beautifully display a gift while trying to be nice to our 'lil planet?

I immediately set out on a research mission to find some super unique ways to wrap gifts that sweet mama earth would approve of, too. Check out a few of my favorite sustainable gift wrapping ideas and let me know if you try any!

Sustainable Gift Wrap Ideas

sustainable gift wrap - furoshiki

Wrap with a reusable fabric! Also known as Furoshiki - but a fun tea towel, bandana or muslin blanket would be perfect here. Top it off with some trimmings from your Christmas tree and you're set. Images via Simone LeBlanc and pinterest

Pretty up some paper grocery store bags. There are so many ways to spruce up (see what I did there?) those paper bags you had to get when you forgot your totes at the grocery store. A couple of favorites? Dried orange slices with cinnamon tied with twine or fun doodles with white marker (bonus with that second option -no need for a gift tag!). Images via The Well Essentials

More of a wrapping traditionalist? Opt for a paper that's definitely recyclable, like these ones from Wrappily.
