Lovers vs. Haters

Lovers vs. Haters

Let’s talk about Valentine’s Day. There are two camps of people when it comes to this subject: lovers and haters. And the weird thing is, you can be someone’s lover and still be a hater. Or be a happily single person who simply LOVES Valentine’s Day. So for starters, there’s really no rhyme or reason to explain what camp you wind up in.

No, this is not a nature versus nurture discussion.

But it’s interesting, right? How some people can literally despise something while others are busy making cards for everyone in the office and decorating their house in every tone of red visible by the naked eye.

Say you’re one of the lovers. I bet you have friends who are haters. Do you hate them for hating a day based around the idea of showing the people in your life a little extra love? Probably not (but if you do, you should probably stop reading now).

The point I’m tying to make here is that we all disagree on so many things. Whether its what to eat for dinner, who should be the president, or whether or not certain holidays are stupid, there’s someone out there that disagrees with you with a passion you’ve never seen. And in most cases, that person still deserves love.

So how do we turn everyone into a lover of this Hallmark Holiday? We make them lovers of love. How do we do that? It’s the easiest thing in the world.

Smile at someone during that awkward sitting-in-traffic-and-accidentally-made-eye-contact moment. Buy someone lunch. Send your best friend a card. Call your mom. Hold the door open. Just say “hi” to people you pass. Showing a little love is so, so easy. My favorite part: you could fundamentally disagree with these people and not even know it.

I’d like for you to email us with people you think could use a little love right now. Let us know why and the best address to send a little care package to them. I hope you’ll think outside the box and maybe even recognize someone you disagree with. I can’t promise we’ll be able to send gifts to everyone, but we’ll sure try.

You never know, you could turn a hater into a lover.

From Standard Wax to you, Happy Valentine’s Day.

And of course, no gift is complete without the gift of letting them choose. The brand new Standard Wax Scent Kit is the perfect gift for the ones with picky taste. The Scent Kit includes small samples of every scent we offer, along with a gift card for them to purchase their favorite with.

Our 2016 Holiday Collection offers a well-rounded experience of everyone’s favorite wintertime activities. Spending time with close friends at a secluded cabin in the snow, baking spiced treats and crafting seasonal cocktails, and hanging mistletoe in hopes of some holiday magic (or just for decoration, too). We’ve included some traditional touches while keeping these holiday fragrances unique to our sensibilities.

Each scent is available in two sizes of candles as well as our brand new Room Spray!

Brandied Plum
Strong and sweet with a sugary blend of liquor-soaked fruits. Brandied Plum is our sweetest offering and fills a room better than a Santa impersonator handing our free presents to children at a holiday party.

Fresh Mistletoe
Light and resinous with a bright citrus finish and cedarwood essential oils. Fresh Mistletoe is our interpretation of that ever-present holiday pine scent, plus there’s a possibility you could trick someone into kissing you under a lit candle.

Winter Spice
Bright and strong with a spicy aroma of cinnamon, cloves, cardamom and ginger. Winter Spice brings back warm memories of holiday treats, spiced cocktails and happy regrets of overeating and drinking.

Chopped Firewood
Earthy and subtle with notes of spruce, cedar and clean woodland air. Chopped Firewood has hints of smoke and burnt coals and can instantly create a mood of lounging fireside while hiding from the impending apocalyptic blizzard happening outside.
